Sogno di una Notte di Mezza Estate, an original Italian opera production by the International Opera Theatre Company in Philadelphia, is based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I worked as the Costume Designer and the Managing Instructor of a seven-week internship project at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where I supervised and worked with nine undergraduate student interns on the construction of nearly 25 costumes and props. Both costumes and props were custom-dyed, fabricated, sculpted, and built in the University of the Arts's Fiber Department. The stage set, designed by Architect, Nandini Bagchee, was built at the university under the supervision of the architect herself.
This world premiere performance of Sogno di una Notte di Mezza took place in Citta della Pieve and Orvieto, Italy, and was featured in the Tribunale di Firenze and the Philadelphia Music Makers Magazine. This production continues to be reviewed and performed nationally.
